Art Lab

Each class (from 25 months old) attends the Art Laboratorio at least once a week. The Laboratorio stimulates the children’s creativity and imagination by providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences.

Laboratorio for the early years children is sensorial ; touching, feeling, exploring and experiencing. Lessons are open-ended and focus on the child’s exploration of materials and colours.

The elementary school children begin to develop their ability to use materials and processes to communicate ideas, feelings and meanings. They develop their understanding of colour, form, texture and pattern, and gradually, as skill’s and new mediums or methods are introduced, the children are encouraged to experiment and explore the mediums independently and personally. They are given greater freedom and autonomy and encouraged to develop their own sense of identity.
The children also explore the ideas and meanings in the works of artists, craftspeople and designers and learn about their different roles and about the functions of art, craft and design in their own lives and in different times and cultures.
