La Casa della Ghianda (ACORN HOUSE)
Who we are
La Casa della Ghianda was founded in 1999 as a pre-school for parents wishing their children to learn English in a stimulating and natural environment.
Since then the school has expanded to also become a primary school. The school now accepts children from 25 months through to Year 4, and will expand
up to Year 6 by 2010.
We are an international school using the English National Curriculum from Reception age (4 years old) onwards. We use the Primary National Strategy and
Framework for Literacy
and Mathematics as our guideline, providing each child with confidence, knowledge and ability in English (reading, writing and speaking) and mathematics. As well
as literacy and
mathematics, the children follow an English programme of history, geography, science, ICT, personal, social and health education, art, drama, music and sports.
Our teaching staff
teach the curriculum subjects in a creative and stimulating way, encouraging not only cognitive development, but also academic enjoyment and motivation, using
games, music, art and
a hands-on approach to learning.
The school is an inclusive environment accepting all children regardless of needs, providing individual support where needed. La Casa della Ghianda believes in
the importance of
learning and socialising within an environment of creativity, support and encouragement.
Our teaching objective is to provide a positive first experience with learning for each and every child, in order to increase self-esteem, curiosity and the
enjoyment of learning.
